How to find the LinkedIn posts that lead to new followers
LinkedIn posting doesn’t have to feel like shouting into the void.
We tend to say ‘you need to post and show up to attract new opportunities,’ but we don’t always know how to measure this.
Sure, engagement is IMPORTANT but it doesn’t tell the whole story.
Not when you want to measure the interest as a signal.
Luckily, the LinkedIn gods have heard us and decided to add two new metrics for personal profiles.
Introducing: Profile activity
There is a new section in your individual post analytics.
How to find it:
Scroll to the end of your post
Click to 'View analytics'
You'll find a section called Profile Activity
You can now see:
Profile viewers from this post
Followers gained from this post
Why does this matter?
This is a new layer that helps you understand the posts that move the needle — from sparking curiosity to convincing someone to trust you.
Think of it as part of your content ‘funnel’.
Different posts have different objectives.
If you want to attract a wider audience and go for more general or popular posts, the profile views and follows can help you track this interest.
If you want to engage your existing audience, you can use the profile views to confirm that your content was interesting/relevant enough that people wanted to find out more about you (or remember who you are and what you do)
It's a clear signal of interest, and you can also go back and track it for your older posts.
How I started using it for clients
I wanted to test this feature in practice by looking at my clients’ posts to find the ones that led to the highest number of profile views and followers.
I looked back at posts from the start of 2025 (or even earlier for the ones that I knew they were popular) and I started comparing the profile views and follows they generated.
It was surprising to see that not all engaging posts lead to the same amount of follows or profile views.
This doesn't mean that you should only create content that leads to followers as this would alienate your existing audience.
It's about understanding how to appeal to different people.
→ Every post has a different value and these new features may uncover surprising insights about what your audience wants from you.
Another idea is to feed these insights to ChatGPT to analyse them in a larger volume to draw more insights about the types of posts that get the highest interest from followers and profile views.
Here is the manual way
Copy-paste stats
Ask ChatGPT to review them and organise insights
Create themes from these insights
You can also create your own GPT to improve this analysis and even help inform your future content strategy with these insights to build a more complete ‘funnel’ with content that attracts, appeals, and converts.
I wrote an article in the past about how you can use ChatGPT to analyse your personal profile stats.
Keep an eye on these numbers, you may be surprised at what your audience finds intriguing.
